New technologies have resulted in creating exceptional designs. Some of the complicated ideas can make navigation of a site confusing, complicated and annoying. Same is the case with cookie cutter templates that make a site look dull and similar to others. We can find a number of confusing sites that are ugly and distracting.

For an ecommerce web design it is necessary that there is a balance between technologies, usability and appearance. The navigation needs to be simple so that it can easily be controlled by the internet users. Here are a few navigation rules that need to be followed:

• A website that has navigation easy and simple is the one that has a higher conversion rate. There are a lot of ideas that might make the website look beautiful but it makes navigation complicated. Such ideas should be avoided. Do not annoy your customers with new ideas that are of no use to them. Such ideas would waste time and cut the number of customers down for the website.

• Facilitate each and every user. These would include people with disabilities. E.g. customers can be color blind. These people cannot see the colors in red tone. Therefore such colors should be avoided. Similarly blinking material can be a problem for a lot of people. You can facilitate the customers with magnifiers.

• Customers should be guided on the website so that they don’t get confused. A search engine may drop you on a page other than the home page. So with simple steps guide them. Navigate them where they are supposed to be on the site if they are looking for something.

• Add a search box to your site for navigation.
